Daytona 500

On February 23, 2014, something  happened and they called it The Great American Race. It was the Daytona 500 that was happening. Austin Dillon was the pole sitter for the race driving the No.3 car as the legacy continues with the No.3 car. Jimmie Johnson looks to win his 7th Daytona 500 as Jeff Gordon searches for his 4th. Tony Stewart returns after injuring himself on August 5, 2013. Dale Earnhardt Jr. looks to win his 1st 500 since 2004. The Stewart-Haas Racing Team has a new team and owner. Their team is Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick, Kurt Busch, and Kevin Harvick . Their owner is the No.14 driver, Tony Stewart. As the race started, Austin Dillon led the first lap in the No.3 car since 2001. On lap 3, Kyle Larson in the No.42 car took a hit from the wall and became a lap down after taking a pit stop. Then, on lap 15, Kyle Larson gets even worse with an engine problem. On lap 39, at 1:13, rain comes down and drivers got out and covered their cars. The rain delay lasted more than 6 hours. Then, at 7:00 pm, drivers start getting back into their cars. At 7:52 PM, the race resumes. On lap 85, Danica Patrick leads the Daytona 500 for the 2nd time. On lap 128, Clint Bowyer blows his engine and he is done for the day. On lap 147, Aric Almirola would get loose and would hit Austin Dillon and Danica Patrick and she would slightly hit Trevor Bayne as their day is over for all except Trevor Bayne. On lap 183, Trevor Bayne loses control and would end up driving his backup car. With 7 laps to go, Ryan Newman loses control and leads a big crash. On the final lap, Trevor Bayne spins out of knocking a bunch with him as Dale Earnhardt Jr. takes the checkered flag and wins his 2nd Daytona 500.
